Making complex ideas simple...

and the animation process even simpler

Employee Onboarding Animations

Animated videos that welcome new starters, communicate your culture and get people up to speed faster.

First impressions matter. When a new employee joins your organisation, the onboarding experience sets the tone for everything that follows. I create onboarding animations that transform dry policies and procedures into engaging visual stories. Whether you're welcoming a single new hire or rolling out a global induction programme, animation delivers a consistent, professional experience every time.

Andrew Armes - Head of Talent Acquisition - Roche

I worked with Leigh when I was Head of Talent Acquisition at Roche and he did an excellent job at creating imaginative and inspiring content for our recruitment advertising and branding as well as our internal employee engagement and well-being campaigns. He has a great sense of humour as well, and always delivered on any brief, often adding more value at various stages throughout the process. You'll enjoy working with Leigh.

Jon Beacher - Creative Director - Innesco

I have worked with Leigh across a range of projects, from vector-based animations to corporate videos. His skill in building slick motion graphics, animations, and video editing is only second to his calm and professional approach to projects. Nothing is a problem, no ridiculous timeline is unachievable, and no last-minute 'feedback' is an issue. If I have Leigh on the project it will be completed to an incredibly high standard, quickly and efficiently, and most of all it will be an enjoyable experience.

Animation Works for Employee Onboarding

New starters are bombarded with information in their first weeks. Employee handbooks, compliance documents, HR forms, IT setup guides — it’s overwhelming. Animation cuts through the noise by presenting information visually, making complex processes easier to understand and remember.

Consistency at Scale

When onboarding is delivered by different managers or HR staff, the experience varies. Some explain things thoroughly; others rush through. An animated onboarding video ensures every new employee receives the same clear, comprehensive introduction — whether they’re joining in London, Hertfordshire, Manchester or remotely from home.

Available Anytime, Anywhere

Unlike in-person training sessions, animated onboarding content can be watched at any time. New starters can revisit sections they didn’t fully grasp. Remote employees get the same quality experience as those in the office. And your HR team isn’t tied up delivering the same presentation over and over again.

Better Retention

People remember visual information far better than text alone. By combining narration, graphics and motion, onboarding animations help new employees retain key information about your company, culture, and processes. This means fewer follow-up questions and faster time to productivity.

What I Can Create for You

Every organisation has different onboarding needs. Here are some of the most common types of onboarding animations I can help produce:

Welcome Videos

A warm introduction to your organisation. These typically cover your company history, mission, values and what makes your workplace special. They set the emotional tone and help new starters feel part of something meaningful from day one.

Culture and Values

Abstract concepts like “collaboration” or “innovation” are hard to communicate in a handbook. Animation brings your values to life through visual storytelling, showing what these principles look like in practice rather than just listing them on a page.

Process and Systems Training

From booking annual leave to submitting expenses, every organisation has processes that new starters need to learn. Animated walkthroughs make these procedures clear and easy to follow, reducing errors and support requests.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

Compliance training doesn’t have to be boring. Animation can present mandatory health and safety information, data protection guidelines, or industry regulations in an engaging format that people actually pay attention to.

Role-Specific Inductions

Different departments have different needs. I can create tailored animations for specific teams — whether that’s introducing sales staff to your CRM, showing warehouse workers around safety protocols, or walking customer service teams through your support processes.

How I Work

I’m a freelance motion designer, which means you work directly with me throughout the project — no account managers, no handoffs between departments, no surprises. I work with large corporates through to small charities.

Discovery — We discuss your onboarding goals, target audience, and key messages. What do new starters need to know? What tone fits your culture?

Script and storyboard — We develop a script with you (or you write it) and visual storyboard for your review. This is where we nail down the content and flow before any animation begins.

Design — I create the visual style, working within your brand guidelines or developing a fresh look that fits your organisation.

Animation — I bring the storyboard to life with motion, timing, and (if required) voiceover and music.

Delivery — You receive the final video in whatever formats you need — whether that’s for your LMS, intranet, or shared drive.

Who This Is For

I work with HR teams, L&D managers, and internal communications professionals across a range of sectors. Onboarding animations are particularly valuable for:

Growing companies hiring regularly and needing a scalable onboarding solution

Organisations with remote or distributed teams who can’t rely on in-person inductions

Regulated industries where compliance training must be delivered consistently

Companies refreshing their employer brand and wanting their onboarding to reflect their culture

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should an onboarding animation be?

It depends on the content, but most onboarding videos work best between 2–5 minutes. For longer programmes, I often recommend breaking content into shorter modules that new starters can work through at their own pace.

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Absolutely. I’ll work within your brand colours, fonts, and visual style to ensure the animation feels like a natural extension of your existing materials or we can develop something completely new but still on-brand.

Do you provide voiceover and music?

Yes. I can source professional voiceover artists and license appropriate music or work with assets you already have.

How long does it take to produce an onboarding animation?

A typical project takes 2–3 weeks from briefing to final delivery, depending on complexity and feedback turnaround. Tighter timelines are sometimes possible — just ask.

Can the animation be updated later?

Yes. I build projects in a way that makes future updates straightforward. If your policies change or you rebrand, I can revise the animation without starting from scratch.

What formats do you deliver?

I’ll provide whatever you need — typically MP4 for most uses, but I can also supply versions optimised for specific platforms or SCORM wrapped for your learning management system.

How much does it cost?

This depends upon complexity but approximately £2,000 to £5,000 for a 3 to 4 minute animation. Complexity is king here. I’ve made animations that have just cost £800 but also made some for £10,000. A professional voice-artist adds additional costs starting from £200, but can make a HUGE difference to the deliverable.

There can also be ‘stretch’. I have made many animations before where we have re-used assets to save cost on the second and thirds animations created. I’ve also supplied assets that are used in PowerPoint presentations and online LMS systems to support the animation.
