Making complex ideas simple...

and the animation process even simpler

Education & Training Animated Videos

Effective learning relies on clarity.

I design training animations that bridge the gap between complex information and real understanding. Whether you are upskilling employees (internal comms) or educating clients on a new product (external training), I turn detailed processes into clear, memorable visual guides. My goal is to ensure your educational content is not just watched, but actually retained.

Animation Works for Training

The human brain processes visual information far faster than text. When you combine visuals with motion, narration, and storytelling, you create something memorable. That’s why animated training consistently outperforms traditional methods for knowledge retention and engagement.

Complex Topics Made Simple

Some things are hard to explain with words alone. Software interfaces, mechanical processes, abstract concepts — animation can show what text can only describe. Step-by-step walkthroughs, visual metaphors, and clear diagrams make even the most complex topics accessible.

Consistent Delivery

When training is delivered by different people, quality varies. One trainer might be thorough; another might rush. An animated training video delivers the same clear, comprehensive content every time — to every employee, in every location.

Scalable and Repeatable

Once created, an animated training video can be watched by ten people or ten thousand. New starters can complete training on day one. Existing staff can revisit content whenever they need a refresher. Your L&D team isn’t stuck delivering the same session repeatedly.

Engaging and Memorable

Let’s be honest — most training is dull. Animation brings energy and interest to subjects that would otherwise feel like a chore. When people are engaged, they pay attention. When they pay attention, they learn.

Types of Training Animation I Create

Compliance, Information and Regulatory Training

Health and safety, data protection, anti-bribery, equality and diversity — compliance training is mandatory, but it doesn’t have to be tedious. Animation presents essential information clearly while keeping people engaged enough to actually absorb it.

Software and Systems Training

Rolling out new software? Updating existing systems? Animated walkthroughs show employees exactly how to complete tasks, step by step. Screen recordings combined with animation can highlight key areas, demonstrate workflows, and reduce support tickets.

Skills Development

From leadership and communication to customer service and sales techniques, animation can illustrate best practices and model desired behaviours. Visual scenarios bring abstract skills to life in a way that text-based training simply can’t match.

Process and Procedure Training

Every organisation has processes that staff need to follow. Whether it’s how to submit an expense claim, operate machinery, or escalate a customer complaint, animated process guides make procedures crystal clear.

Product and Service Training

Help your teams understand what you sell. Animated product training can explain features, benefits, and use cases — useful for sales teams, customer service staff, and new starters getting up to speed.

Safety Training

Safety-critical information demands attention. Animation can demonstrate hazards, correct procedures, and emergency protocols in a visual format that’s easier to understand and remember than written instructions.

The Benefits for Your Organisation

Reduced Training Time

Animation communicates information efficiently. What might take an hour to explain in a classroom can often be covered in a focused 5-minute video. Multiply that across your workforce and the time savings are significant.

Lower Training Costs

No venue hire, no travel expenses, no trainer fees. Once an animated training video exists, it costs nothing to deliver — whether to one person or one thousand.

Better Knowledge Retention

Studies consistently show that people retain visual information better than text. Animated training sticks in a way that manuals and slide decks don’t.

Accessible Anytime, Anywhere

Employees can complete training at their desk, at home, or on the move. Night shift workers, remote teams, and global offices all get access to the same quality training.

Easy to Update

Processes change. Regulations evolve. Unlike printed materials or recorded classroom sessions, animated training can be updated efficiently when things change.

How I Work

I’m a freelance motion designer with over 25 years of experience. When you work with me, you get direct access throughout the project — no account managers, no handoffs, no delays.

Briefing — We discuss your training objectives, audience, and key messages. What do people need to learn? What behaviours do you want to change?

Script development — We develop a script with you (or you write it) and visual storyboard for your review. This is where we nail down the content and flow before any animation begins.

Storyboard — I create a visual storyboard showing how the animation will flow. This is where we agree the look and feel before any animation begins.

Design and animation — I build the visuals, animate the content, and add voiceover and music if required.

Delivery — You receive the final video in whatever formats you need for your LMS, intranet or training platform.

Who This Is For

I work with L&D teams, HR departments, training managers, and operations leads across a range of industries. Training animations are particularly effective for:

Regulated industries — healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, manufacturing — where compliance training must be delivered consistently and documented.

Organisations with distributed workforces — remote teams, multiple sites, shift workers, or field-based staff who can’t easily attend classroom training.

Companies rolling out new systems or processes — where everyone needs to get up to speed quickly and consistently.

Growing businesses — where scalable training solutions are more practical than one-to-one instruction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should a training video be?

Shorter than you think. Attention spans are limited, especially for mandatory training. I typically recommend 2–5 minutes per video. For larger topics, breaking content into modules works better than one long video.

Can you make compliance training actually engaging?

Yes — that’s the whole point. Animation, clear storytelling, and good pacing can make even dry regulatory content watchable. People are more likely to pay attention and retain the information.

Do you write the scripts or do we need to provide content?

If you have existing training materials, I’ll work from those. Either you can write the script, we can get a professional to write it or kick it off with some help from AI. Projects are collaborative — you know the subject matter, I know how to communicate it visually.

Can we update the videos later if things change?

Yes. I build projects so they can be revised efficiently. If a regulation changes or a process is updated, I can amend the animation without rebuilding from scratch.

What about voiceover and music?

I can source professional voiceover artists in a range of styles and accents, and license appropriate music. Alternatively, I can work with assets you provide.

How long does production take?

Typically 2–4 weeks from brief to final delivery for a standard training video. More complex projects or series may take longer. Rush jobs are sometimes possible — ask me.

What formats do you deliver?

Usually MP4, but I can provide whatever your platform requires. If you’re uploading to a specific LMS, let me know and I’ll supply the right format and specifications.

How much does it cost?

This depends upon complexity but approximately £2,000 to £5,000 for a 3 to 4 minute animation. Complexity is king here. I’ve made animations that have just cost £800 but also made some for £10,000. A professional voice-artist adds additional costs starting from £200, but can make a HUGE difference to the deliverable.

There can also be ‘stretch’. I have made many animations before where we have re-used assets to save cost on the second and thirds animations created. I’ve also supplied assets that are used in PowerPoint presentations and online LMS systems to support the animation.
